Situ Live’s Nutrition Kitchen will be one of six experiential theatres in our Westfield venue. A space where visitors can engage with innovative kitchen appliances, through a host of live demonstrations and food tastings.

To bring our interactive custom-built kitchen to life, we’re excited to be partnering with bespoke furniture company, Anthony Mullan Furniture.

We caught up with the founder himself, Anthony Mullan, to find out what sets their designs apart and what they are most looking forward to about collaborating with Situ Live on this project.

Describe Anthony Mullan Furniture in one sentence.

Providing a bespoke service from start to finish.

What is the story behind the brand?

Anthony Mullan established the company in 2000 and his hands-on approach has earned him a fantastic reputation, allowing him to be trusted with complete control from design to installation and offering a customer service second to none.

You specialise in kitchens, bedrooms, and home studies. What makes your designs unique?

It’s all about the personal touch and attention to detail. The company started out as a family-based company and this remains at the heart of what we do. We aim to create dream designs based on the way you move in the kitchen and can showcase these designs through VR.

We consider how the space would work for all family members (including four-legged friends) and, because we’re bespoke, we are able to incorporate any quirky features into the design. Rather than just being a series of black and white lines, we can really bring the space to life.

It’s brilliant that you are committed to reducing your environmental impact. Tell us about some of your sustainable business practices?

In the current climate, we’re always looking for ways to reduce our carbon footprint and increase our eco-efficiency. As a company, we’re conscious of unnecessary paper wastage, so using an internal server to share details and projects digitally is paramount. We now also provide digital brochures which can be easily updated without the need for re-prints.

We try to promote sustainability in all aspects of work life – from encouraging factory members to share transportation to recycling our coffee pods.

We have also recently launched our sustainable pledge; for every completed kitchen project, we will be planting a tree in honour of the client as a lasting legacy. It’s our way of giving back and helping to look after tomorrow!

You recently innovated your design consultation services, how has this changed and what has the response been from your customers?

We have embraced the digitisation of meetings, using interactive platforms, such as Zoom, Google Meet, and even FaceTime. This enabled us to continue to meet with clients on a one-to-one basis as they dial in from the comfort of their own homes. This not only helps to speed up the overall design process but helps to reduce our collective impact on the environment.

We now also offer a Virtual Reality Service where clients can use VR to see and explore their design in a space. This is especially helpful for those who don’t even have a wall built yet! Client feedback has been really positive as we are able to tailor the experience to their needs.

We are thrilled to have you designing our Nutrition Kitchen at Situ Live’s Westfield store. What are you most looking forward to about this project?

We loved the concept of Situ Live from the minute we heard about it, so it's fantastic to be a part of your journey from the moment the doors first open.

We see the value of the retail experience day-in, day-out at our showroom and at high-profile consumer shows like Grand Designs Live - so we know how much people appreciate multi-sensory experiences.

The whole concept of Situ Live’s Nutrition Kitchen has exactly the sort of energy, positivity, and creativity that we love surrounding ourselves with. And given our existing partnership with Bosch, who are also showcasing their products in Situ Live, we knew it was going to be a great fit.
